Bill, Good article for anyone consuming energy as part of their business. Even small things like upgrading to LED lighting solutions can make big differences in energy consumption. They are not difficult things to do, it just needs your expertise to help put the cost justification together.

Your comment about SME's needing to focus more on environmental awareness and sustainability is well placed. Representing QMS International Plc, one of the leading ISO certification companies in the UK, we have seen a rapid increase in demand for ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) requirements. The majority of these customers are either using it to win ITT type bids with larger companies of government contracts, although some are using it as a structure to help reduce costs often around fuel and energy.

In addition we are seeing larger organisations looking towards BS EN 16001 Energy management to help build a structure for conserving Energy.

John, you should get members talking up Refer On in their Local Networks on WeCanDo.Biz:

https://www.wecando.biz/thenetwork.php?network=loc

No network has yet exploited what a fantastic tool this is for promoting their events and membership to other local businesses. There are over 7,000 business people who get told when someone posts a discussion.

The more the happy campers at Refer On get around in this community the more the organisation will come into others' view.
